Exosome Therapy — Hair & Skin

Regenerative signalling that tells tissue to behave younger — applied to follicle density and skin quality.

Exosome Therapy at Johns Hopkins Polyclinic

What exosomes are

Exosomes are extracellular vesicles — microscopic packages that cells use to send instructions to other cells. In a clinical setting they are applied to deliver growth-factor signalling into scalp or skin tissue, prompting the local repair response rather than adding volume or pigment.

Exosomes for hair

Used for thinning, widening parting lines and early-stage pattern loss, where follicles are miniaturising but still present. The protocol pairs microneedling with exosome application across the treatment zone, and works best when started early — dormant follicles respond, absent ones do not.

  • Baseline scalp analysis and photography
  • Course of sessions spaced several weeks apart
  • Density re-assessed against your own baseline images

Exosomes for skin

For texture, tone, post-acne marking and general dullness. Often combined with microneedling so the delivery is even across the face, and frequently sequenced before or after injectables rather than on the same day.

What to expect

Sessions run 45–60 minutes including numbing. Expect redness for roughly 24 hours; makeup is usually fine the next day. Visible change is gradual — tissue remodelling takes weeks, and anyone promising an overnight result is overselling it.

Suitability, session count and expected outcome are decided at consultation. Results vary between individuals.

Questions

Frequently asked

Straight answers. Anything specific to your case is settled at the consultation.

Is exosome therapy the same as PRP?

No. PRP is drawn from your own blood and spun down. Exosome preparations are laboratory-produced signalling vesicles. They are sometimes used together; your physician will explain which fits your case.

When will I see results?

Hair protocols are judged at around the three-month mark against your baseline photographs, because follicle cycles are slow. Skin texture usually reads earlier.

Does it hurt?

Topical numbing is applied first. Most patients describe the microneedling pass as tolerable pressure rather than pain.

Will it work on completely bald areas?

Realistically, no. Exosome therapy supports follicles that are still present but weakening. Fully scarred or long-dormant areas are a different conversation.

Your longevity protocol starts with one consultation.

No obligation. A physician reviews your goals before any treatment plan is built.
